CLEVELAND -- Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is asking Cleveland fans to be patient as he looks to replace the coach he fired after one season. With criticism growing as the search drags on, Haslam sent a letter to fans Wednesday in which he explained the Browns "methodical" hunt for a "strong coach." Haslam fired Rob Chudzinski last month following a 4-12 season, forcing the Browns to look for their seventh full-time coach since 1999 and fourth in six years. The owner said the team has spoken to a "number of outstanding candidates" and indicated he and CEO Joe Banner will meet with assistant coaches currently in the NFL playoffs. "We have purposefully been very methodical in our approach," Haslam said in the letter released by the team and posted on its website. "We believe it is very important to stay disciplined to this process and to interview all of the candidates on our list. We are strongly committed to finding the right person to coach the Cleveland Browns." The Browns were the first team to fire a coach after the season, and theyll be the last to hire one now that the Minnesota Vikings are completing a contract with former Cincinnati defensive co-ordinator Mike Zimmer, who interviewed for the Cleveland opening a year ago. When Chudzinski was dismissed, Haslam made it clear the Browns would take as long as needed to find a "proven winner." But as days turned to weeks and several candidates took jobs elsewhere or other names surfaced and were quickly dismissed, a perception took hold that the front office was not on the same page. There have also been rumblings that the Browns have been spurned by candidates and are fixated on hiring Denver offensive co-ordinator Adam Gase. Haslams unexpected letter seemed to be the teams attempt to quell some of the outside noise. Cleveland has interviewed six known candidates and the team intends to meet with Gase when the Broncos season ends. Gase was the first candidate contacted by the Browns after Chudzinski was let go. The 35-year-old Gase told the Browns and Vikings he wanted to wait until after the season. Although Gase appears to be the front-runner, theres no guarantee hell be hired by the Browns -- or if he even wants the job. Gases interview will likely take place soon after the Broncos are finished playing. That could be as soon as Sunday or as late as Feb. 3, if Denver advances to the Super Bowl. Haslam said the Browns, who havent been to the AFC playoffs since 2002, will remain patient. "We are prepared to wait as long as necessary because this is a very important decision," said Haslam, Clevelands owner since 2012. "Everyone in our organization is committed to finding the right leader for our team." The lingering search has created the appearance that the job is not appealing. Haslam, though, insists the Cleveland coaching spot is a "very attractive position." "We have one of the youngest teams in the League, a roster that includes five Pro Bowlers," he said. "In addition, we have more salary-cap room than all but one NFL team. We also have three of the top 35 picks in the upcoming draft and five of the top 83 selections." The Browns also interviewed Seattle defensive co-ordinator Dan Quinn, who could get a second meeting when the Seahawks season ends. New England co-ordinator Josh McDaniels and Arizona defensive co-ordinator Todd Bowles removed their names from consideration. Ken Whisenhunt met with the Browns before he was hired by Tennessee, and Green Bay quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo interviewed with Cleveland but was hired Tuesday as the New York Giants offensive co-ordinator. Former Tennessee coach Mike Munchak met with Haslam and Browns CEO Joe Banner this week. During the Browns search, other prominent names emerged, including Oklahomas Bob Stoops and former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel. However, neither is believed to be on Clevelands radar. Its also possible the team will ask to meet with San Francisco offensive co-ordinator Greg Roman. As they look for a new coach, the Browns have granted permission for offensive co-ordinator Norv Turner to interview with the Vikings, and theyve told defensive co-ordinator Ray Horton he can interview for the same position in Tennessee. Mike Bibby Jersey . Goins is the early favourite to win the starting job at second base. Pillar is an outsider to secure a role off the bench, which becomes an even more difficult spot to win if the number of back up jobs is reduced by one. That happens if the Blue Jays decide to start the season with an eight man bullpen. Tracy Mcgrady Jersey . If Vettel wins at Suzuka on Sunday, and his nearest rival Fernando Alonso finishes worse than eighth, the German driver will join his compatriot Michael Schumacher and Argentine Juan-Manuel Fangio as the only men to win four consecutive titles. http://www.authenticbasketballshophawks....e-hawks-jersey/. -- Scottie Wilbekin sat on the bench for the final minute, holding a bag of ice against his left knee. DeAndre Bembry Jersey . Alen, 28, hit .315 with five home runs, 59 RBI and a career-high nine stolen bases for the Goldeyes last season. He is the longest serving catcher in Goldeyes history, having already spent five seasons with the organization. Vince Carter Jersey . -- Maxence Parrot of Bromont, Que.Paris, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer were among the third-round winners Friday at the French Open. Neither advanced easily, though, as both needed four sets. Djokovic came away with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4 victory over Croatias Marin Cilic and Federer earned a 7-5, 6-7 (7-9), 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Russian Dmitry Tursunov. The second-seeded Djokovic won his eighth straight match. He entered the years second Grand Slam after capturing the Italian Masters, which included a victory over Rafael Nadal in the final, and won each of his first two matches this week in straight sets. Cilic, it appeared, would meet the same fate after the first two sets, but he dominated the third-set tiebreaker. Djokovic then earned an early break for a 2-0 edge in the fourth before Cilic battled back with a break and evened the set at 4-4. Djokovic held again and Cilic was ahead in the next game before the Serb won the last three points, the final one coming on a Cilic double fault. "First two sets and beginning of the third I had some chances to break him and kind of get the job done in straight sets, but he started playing a little bit better," said Djokovic. "He played great, the end of the third, especially in the tiebreak. I complicated my own life there in the fourth. But generally it was a difficult match from different aspects." Djokovic improved to 9-0 all-time against Cilic and will next play French crowd favorite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The 13th seed cruised to a 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 win over Polands Jerzy Janowicz to reach the fourth round for the fifth time in the last six years. Tsonga was a semifinalist last year, losing to David Ferrer. Federer, meanwhile, also won his first two matches in straight sets this week before a test from Tursunov on Friday. The Moscow native fought off 17-of-21 break-point chances before finally falling. The third-round exit tied his best finish in 11 appearances at the French Open. The fourth-seeded Federer, the only French mens champion in the draw outsiide of eight-time winner Nadal, also beat Tursunov earlier this year in the third round at Indian Wells and advanced to a fourth-round meeting with Latvias Ernests Gulbis.dddddddddddd "Im pleased to be through," said Federer, the 2009 champion. "Like expected, it was not a straight-forward, easy match. I knew that Dmitry was going to try different things, play aggressive, serve well and then take big cuts at the ball. Thats kind of how it went." Gulbis, coming off a win last week at the French Open tune-up in Nice, eased past Czech veteran Radek Stepanek, 6-3, 6-2, 7-5, to reach the fourth round for the second time at Roland Garros. He made the quarterfinals in 2008 before falling to Djokovic. Sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych needed four sets to dispose of Spains Roberto Bautista Agut, claiming a 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4 triumph to reach the fourth round for only the fourth time in 11 appearances at Roland Garros. The Czechs best finish was a run to the semifinals in 2010. American John Isner is next for Berdych. The 10th seed went more than three hours to complete a 7-6 (15-13), 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (5-7), 7-5 victory over Spains Tommy Robredo. Isner had never beaten a Spaniard in a Grand Slam in five previous attempts and became the first American since Robby Ginepri in 2010 to reach the round of 16 in Paris. Eighth-seeded Milos Raonic outlasted Frenchman Gilles Simon in five sets, rallying for a 4-6, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory. Raonic became the first Canadian to reach the fourth round in the French capital and will next play the winner between Spains Marcel Granollers and Slovakias Martin Klizan. Darkness nearly stopped Raonic and did halt the Granollers-Klizan match after three sets. It will resume Saturday with Granollers holding a 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) advantage. Saturdays third-round action also includes the top-seeded Nadal against Argentinas Leonardo Mayer, the fifth-seeded Ferrer against Italys Andreas Seppi and seventh-seeded Andy Murray against Germanys Philipp Kohlschreiber.
